DaPlug Sponge Cubes are a ready-to-use growing medium. For best results, pre-soak the Sponge Cubes in an initial cloning or feeding solution. For sterile applications, DaPlug Sponge Cubes can be boiled before use or before reintroducing cloning or feeding solutions. For non-sterile applications, DaPlug Sponge Cubes contain biocontrol organisms known as Trichoderma, which promote growth and produce a protective defense response. Although you may not always see this, the growth may initially appear white and downy, later developing a yellowish-green or compact green appearance. This is beneficial bacteria, not mold. Any pre-soaking solutions will dissipate these appearances on the Sponge Cubes. DaPlug Sponge Cubes pair well with Root Radiance heat mats for enhanced growth. Warm conditions may cause the Sponge Cubes to dry out more quickly so always ensure that they are thoroughly hydrated. Firmly squeeze the Sponge Cubes to check the moisture level.
