BIONOVA P 20 PHOSPHORUS MINERAL ADDITIVE
Bionova P 20 is a food grade mineral additive containing 20% phosphorus. P 20 is free of chlorides and other excess ingredients. Plants have a high demand for phosphorus during the first weeks of flower. This product provides a head start in bud development.
Phosphorus plays an important role in forming energy carriers and DNA within plant cells. It is also essential for the metabolism of sugars and cell membrane formation.
P 20 should be used when a phosphorus deficiency is detected or to prompt flowering.
A deficiency of phosphorus manifests itself as slow growth and leaf discoloration. Leaves turn dark, dull, blue-green, and may become pale in severe deficiency. Reddish, reddish-violet, or violet color develops from increased anthocyanin synthesis.
An excess of phosphorus inhibits absorption of micro-nutrients resulting in withered and discolored plants.
Bionova P 20 can be added to crops as needed without and harmful side-effects – an historical improbability with other phosphorus additives.
Suitable for cultivation methods:
Recommended Dosage:
Application in Irrigation
In case of severe phosphorus deficiency add a max. of 2-4 ml per gallon of water.
To stimulate root development and/or flowering add 0.5-2 ml per gallon of water.
A dosage of 1:1000 increases the total amount of P by 3.5 mmol.
Application as Foliar Spray
2-4 ml per gallon
P 20 can be used with all Bionova products and can be applied as a soil drench or foliar spray.
TIPS FROM BIONOVA GROWERS:
- If plants present symptoms of phosphorus (P) deficiency such as short and purple-reddish petioles, short root systems with no root hairs, dark brown spots on leaves and slowed growth/flowering, apply Bionova P20 to help plants quickly recover from the nutritional shortage.
- Phosphorus is important to provide the necessary energy used by the plant’s metabolism to absorb and synthesize important molecules. Every single reaction inside a plant cell depends on the use of phosphorus as an energy source in the form of ATP (adenosine triphosphate).
- Increase the dosage of P 20 one week before bloom to stimulate a rapid flower induction.
- Mono-nutrients can be used for outdoor growing. After checking the soil and (irrigation) water, Bionova mono-nutrients should be used to adjust the nutrition elements to guarantee adequate amounts of available nutrients.
